How we claim your flight compensation

The process is simple. You give us the details. We do the rest.

Step 1

Tell us about your flight

Complete a short online form with your flight details, including the airline, flight number, date, and the type of disruption you experienced. You do not need to know whether you are eligible before submitting. Our team will assess your claim and let you know. The form takes less than 5 minutes.

Step 2

Upload your documents

Upload your boarding pass, or your booking confirmation if you no longer have it, and any correspondence from the airline. We only ask for a copy of your passport or ID if the airline needs it, or to check your identity before we pay you. All documents are encrypted and stored securely.

Step 3

Sign the Claim Assignment

By signing our Claim Assignment Agreement, you transfer your compensation claim to Flightremedy, so you do not need to deal with the airline yourself. You receive your signed agreement and a copy of our terms by email straight after signing. You can cancel free within 14 days.

Step 4

We contact the airline

We send the airline a formal claim citing the provisions of UK261 or EC 261/2004 that apply, and tell it that the claim now belongs to Flightremedy. We handle all correspondence. Airlines are required to respond, though many try to delay or reject legitimate claims.

Step 5

We escalate if necessary

If the airline rejects the claim or does not respond within a reasonable period, we escalate. This may mean a complaint to the airline's alternative dispute resolution scheme or the Civil Aviation Authority or, where appropriate, court proceedings. We cover all costs of escalation, and our fee stays 30%. If we are ultimately unsuccessful, you pay nothing.

Step 6

You receive your compensation

Once compensation is recovered, we transfer your 70% to your UK bank account in pounds, in full. Our fee is 30% including VAT. For example, on a £520 UK261 claim, we keep £156 and pay you £364. On an EU261 claim paid in euros, we convert the payment into pounds at the exchange rate we actually get and pay you 70%.

How long will my claim take?

Timelines depend on how the airline responds. Most claims resolve without escalation.

STRAIGHTFORWARD CASES

6 to 12 weeks

The airline responds and pays without requiring escalation. This is the most common outcome. You will receive email updates at each stage and can track your claim in your account.

ESCALATED CASES

6 to 18 months

The airline rejects the claim or fails to respond. We escalate to the airline's dispute resolution scheme or the Civil Aviation Authority or, where appropriate, start legal proceedings. We cover all costs of escalation. If we are ultimately unsuccessful, you are charged nothing.

We will never abandon a claim we believe to be valid. If your claim is escalated, we update you at every stage.

What do I need to submit a claim?

  • Your boarding pass for the disrupted flightRequired (or your booking confirmation)
  • Your booking confirmation or e-ticketRecommended
  • Any correspondence from the airline about the disruptionHelpful but not essential
  • A copy of your passport or IDOnly if the airline asks for it

If you do not have all of these documents, submit what you have. Our team will let you know if anything else is needed.
